2-Permission to display revised MRP
- Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution had allowed the manufacturers or packers or importers of pre-packaged commodities to declare the revised retail sale price (MRP) in addition to the existing retail sale price (MRP), for three months July - September, 2017.
- Declaration of the changed retail sale price (MRP) was allowed to be made by way of stamping or putting sticker or online printing, as the case may be.
- Use of un exhausted packaging material/wrapper was also been allowed upto 30th September, 2017 after making the necessary corrections.
- permission to extended to display the revised MRP due to implementation of GST by way of stamping or putting sticker or online printing for a further period of three months, i.e. up to 31st December
3-Milam – Pindari Glacier (Traill’s Pass) trekking expedition
- The Army Ordnance Corps Centre, Secunderabad organised a trekking expedition to Milam – Pindari Glacier (Traill’s Pass) located in Uttarakhand which is considered to be one of the most challenging treks in the country.
- The trek commenced on 05 Sep 2017 from Loharkhet and successfully culminated at Munsiari on 22 Sep 2017
- The trekkers faced inclement weather for four days at a stretch and survived with minimal rations at sub zero temperatures without any communication with the outside world.
- Out of the 88 attempts made in the past to cross Traill’s Pass since the time it was discovered by George William Traill in 1830, only 15 attempts were successful because of the difficulty posted by the glaciated terrain and a 800 feet vertical rock wall
4-ARPAN VERSION 3.0 FOR DEFENCE SECURITY CORPS
- The ARPAN software consisting of seven modules facilitates end to end human resource, financial management of Junior Commissioned Officers and Other Ranks with major functional advantages of timely processing of postings, promotions, release of salary,
- Publication of personal occurrences and processing of pension has been rolled out by DCOAS (IS &T) for the Defence Security Corps.
- Defence Security Corps troops would be able to access their service profiles, statement of accounts and adjustment of allowances at par with the troops of Indian Army.
- The software has been developed by Tech Mahindra.
5-Defence Minister Visits J&K
- Defence Minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman visited the Chinar Corps in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) today to review the overall security situation prevailing in the Valley.
- Accompanied by the Chief of the Army Staff General Bipin Rawat
- This visit is to review the security situation in the valley and know the preparedness level of the troops in terms of counter-infiltration,counter-terrorist operations
- Also defence minister met Governor Shri N N Vohra and also interacted with the Chief Minister Ms Mehbooba Mufti.
- Smt Sitharaman will visit Thoise (Siachen) on 30/09/17
6- 85th Air Force Day
- The air display conducted at Air Force Station Hindan (Ghaziabad)
- The air display will commence with flag bearing sky divers of famous AKASH GANGA Team dropping out of AN-32 aircraft in their colourful canopies
- The flypast would include the vintage aircraft, modern transport aircraft and frontline fighter aircraft
7-Global Wildlife Programme (GWP)
- In order to address illegal wildlife trade across 19 countries of Asia and Africa, India is hosting Global Wildlife Programme (GWP) along with World Bank and United Nations Development Programme
- participating nations include – Afghanistan, Botswana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Gabon, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Malawi, Mali, Mozambique, Philippines, Republic of Congo, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Vietnam, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
- Global Wildlife Programme was initiated in 2015. Will inaugurated on October-2 by environmental minister
- Five crore people living around national parks and sanctuaries are working as partners in environment conservation
- 15-year National Wildlife Action Plan (2017-31), with a special focus on peoples’ participation will also be launched on October 2
- Conference will act as a platform for knowledge exchange and coordination on the action taken on the ground to combat illegal poaching of wildlife and improve governance on wildlife conservation
- issues as global warming, climate change and disaster management on the people living around wildlife areas and on the wildlife will also be discussed.
- Coinciding with the ‘Wildlife Week’, the theme of the Conference is - “Peoples’ participation in wildlife conservation”
- strengthened cooperation between India and the 18 GWP countries in better management of wildlife habitats and minimizing human-wildlife conflict situations.
- It will also enable India to strengthen its enforcement mechanism to control illicit trade

- India has registered a significant decline in Infant Mortality Rate (IMR).
- According to the just released SRS bulletin, IMR of India has declined by three points (8% decline), from 37 per 1000 live births in 2015 to 34 per 1000 live births in 2016,
compared to two points decline last year first time come down to below 25 million. - India has registered 90000 fewer infant deaths in 2016 as compared to 2015.
- The total number of estimated infant deaths have come down from 930000 (9.3 Lakhs) in 2015 to 840000 (8.4 lakhs) in 2016.
- According to the SRS Bulletin the gender gap in India for child survival is reducing steadily. The gender difference between female and male IMR has now reduced to Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ Result of a countrywide efforts to increase the health service coverage through various initiatives of the Government that includes strengthening of service delivery; quality assurance; RMNCH+A; human resources, community processes; information and knowledge; drugs and diagnostics, and supply chain management, etc.
